Is it possible to become homeless after being released from jail or prison in the United States?

Anyway the guy drives to work everyday. and after work he tries to find a cheap place to rent . He can stay 14 days at the campsite before having to move to another campsite . I asked him why he just didn’t park his car somewhere in Springfield and sleep in it. For some reason he thought that was funny and asked me to do that and tell me how it went.
Yes. Many people want to live with their girlfriend or wife who is renting, but the landlord will not allow him because he is an ex con. In Missouri , you are supposed to find a “homeplan” before release. If you cant find one the institutional Parole officer will find one . Its usually a place that accepts ex cons. They work for a roof over their heads . But It doesn’t always work out. I was at a campground a few months back . It was small and only one other campsite was being used. It was by a homeless guy. And I found out he was an ex con. As I was talking to him he said he didnt like being in the woods but that it was better than the streets of Springfield. Not sure what that meant. Anyway he said he had nowhere when being released, so the parole found him a place. It was a church ran place and for ex cons. He worked on the farm as he called it and made money and had a place to stay. He ended up getting another job and decided to stay with another guy and they share the rent. The other guy had never been to prison. Things went well for awhile and he gets off parole . But he and the other guy get kicked out because the landlord found out he had been on parole. The other guy didnt really get kicked out, but told the landlord that if he makes him leave he will leave too.
